A few words about the Governing Vessel or Extraordinary Meridian DU MAI:The extraordinary Meridian DU MAI runs along the posterior surface of the body (from the coccyx to the occipital and from there to the upper lip of the mouth along the midline).Small Intestine 3 is a key point for DU MAI.Through a specific combination of points, including LI 3, the mobilization of energy is achieved in this extraordinary meridian. DU MAI is the extraordinary meridian associated with the memory of pain within the human body. And by mobilizing the energy of DU MAI we contribute tothe relief of chronic painas the spinal cord in Traditional Chinese Medicine is expressed through the energy of DU MAI. The motor nerves express the physicalised version of the Yang energy of movement embodied by DU MAI, while the sensory centres act centripetally - expressing Yin energy - all the senses and especially the sensation of pain from the periphery to the centre expressed by DU MAI in the capacity of the central Governing Vessel.
